Warranty & Service

Insured delivery

Within Germany, your furniture is not delivered by an anonymous freight company but by our own drivers in our own truck – carefully packed and insured. In Berlin we carry it into your home; elsewhere in Germany we deliver to the curbside. If needed, the driver is happy to lend a hand. Deliveries to other European countries are handled by a freight company specialising in antiques, also insured.

Before delivery, we call you to arrange a 2-hour time window. Please provide your mobile number when ordering. Additional costs may apply for deliveries to islands.

Do you have a special delivery request? Feel free to contact us personally.

30-day return policy

You have a 30-day right of return: if you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can return the piece in unchanged condition within 30 days of receipt.

A short message is all it takes – on request, we will organise the return transport with our own drivers. We offset the transport costs against the refund, and you will promptly receive the remaining purchase price.

Stories

“You can see how much work went into restoring it. The armchair feels brand new, but it has retained the soul of its former self.”

Marina Gruz

I didn’t want an off-the-shelf piece of furniture, but something with a story. The armchair and the small table beside it turn an empty corner into the most beautiful spot in the apartment.

Eva-Maria Drewes

I didn’t want a plastic desk for my child. This one is 60 years old, and the chair with the green leather fits as though the two had always belonged together. The furniture will probably still be around for their children.

Vintage and Antique Coat Racks and Hall Trees

The coat rack is the first thing guests see. At Hauptstadt Möblerei, you’ll find a changing selection of antique coat racks, hallway coat racks and wall hook rails: from an Art Nouveau brass coat rack and an oak hallway coat rack with mirror to a 1960s hat rack. Each piece is inspected and cleaned in our Berlin workshop.

Types of Coat Racks

Coat Racks: freestanding, made of brass, metal, or bentwood, with hooks for coats and hats, often with an umbrella stand.
Hallway and Wall-Mounted Coat Racks: solid wood coat racks, often with a mirror and hat rack, typical of the Art Nouveau and Wilhelminian eras.
Valet Stands: the silent servant for the bedroom, for jackets, trousers, and shirts.
Wall Hook Rails and Hat Racks: simple wall-mounted coat racks from the 1960s and 1970s for small hallways.

You’ll also find mirrors, console tables and shoe cabinetsto complement your hallway. Find antiques from all periods under Antiques.

Frequently Asked Questions About Coat Racks

How sturdy is an antique coat rack?

We check stability, hooks, and joints before listing a piece online. For freestanding racks, we recommend distributing the weight evenly.

Is a wall-mounted coat rack easy to install?

Yes. The dimensions and, where available, the mounting points are listed for each piece. For heavy hallway coat racks with mirrors, make sure to use wall plugs suitable for your wall.

Do you also buy furniture?

Yes. We buy vintage and antique furniture in good condition. Send us photos and a short description through our furniture buyingpage, and we’ll get back to you with an offer.
